She walked on the grass, her shoes crushing whatever leaves happened to be under them. In her hands she carried a single rose she just barely held onto. Her hair blew in the icy cold wind, but it didn't matter. She put on just enough layers to keep her warm enough; She was only intending to be there for a short time.

She scanned across the stretches of gray platforms jutting from the grass. Some had some unique designs to them, others embossed with a religious figure or something of that nature. Most were worn down stones due to decades, maybe even centuries, of neglect. But she knew exactly what hers looked like, she just never bothered to memorize the exact location. Eventually she found her stone, her gray slab. She looked on the photo carved into it: A woman, middle aged. Not many more details past that can be carved into a stone after all.

She let go of her rose, dropping it on the grass that laid before the polished, stumpy pillar. She looked into the woman's smile. A relic of a person that, to her, didn't deserve to have her smile remembered. She looked into the eyes of the woman, devoid of color but not of the thoughts that laid under them. Her eyes drifted to her curly hair, drooped over her forehead like bouncy cylinders. Under her carved photo, it read the words "Lakeisha Howard. 1959 - 2004".

She had died a three years ago this day and on that day she never thought she would have to bare witness to this person again. The person, who may have raised her, but abused and manipulated her for years. It was her last revenge: to have her face never escape the mind of the little girl she tormented. It wasn't enough to not only rip her childhood and innocence away forever, and instill the obligation to visit her grave every now and again. She had to keep the memory of her face alive, as long as mortally possible.

Thunder rumbles above her head. Drops of rain fall from the sky and pitter-patter on the maple leafs. "Perfect" she thought to herself. As she turned to walk away, the thunder grew from a rumble to a violent crash and the rain grew with it. She didn't care. For all she knew it was her dead mothers attempt at causing her even more suffering, at least the most she could possibly do from whatever circle of hell she had been damned to. She hated her and vice-versa. But memories are just memories. And she knew that one day, years into the future, her stone would erode just like all the others and her face would be lost forever. The wind blew harder, pushing and pulling the branches of the maple trees back and forth. The rose she left at her mothers grave flies into the distance, juxtaposing with the rain and dark, cloudy sky. Eventually it flies over the trees, never to be seen again. She smiled.

i dunno man. it just seems like newgrounds is no longer a hub for creator expression and unique products that don't exist anywhere else but some weird nostalgia porn cesspool. "WOAW WE MADE A [Macromedia Flash MX 2004] GAME!! IT'S A TRIBUTE TO 2000s NEWGROUNDS!!1!" yeah okay but wouldn't your time be better spent making something new? wouldn't your time be better spent making something that the new audience of this website can enjoy and not just your longing to go back to a time when you were younger or feed into your own romanticized vision of what this websites past looked like?

i just think that if this is actually the way we're gonna continue going, newgrounds won't exist anymore. at least not in the way it does now and certainly not how it was when we remember it. it'll just be an echo chamber of pico and FNF characters and nothing else. i don't see anyone making tributes to Fred Figglehorn and Annoying Orange on youtube. they moved on and made new creations over the twenty years that website has existed.

i get that these guys are the mascots of newgrounds but i don't think it would kill anyone if we just dropped it and left it at just that - mascots.

so it's been a while since i've posted anything on here. my last animation was posted almost a year ago now, and no new posts on my art either. i've always wanted to get back into animating for this website, but i've spent a lot more time working on my comics. in all honesty, i haven't even touched flash in a while. i have a lot of projects to finish, including the penguins 2023 halloween special which I think, even in it's unfinished state, is absolutely fantastic. i love animating the penguins animated shorts as well as other side projects, but i just haven't been doing it. i've been putting much more of my effort into comics. i'm even working on my first full comic book, and i'm in talks with a local book store and they seem interested in selling it.

i do want to keep this up. i'm just not sure i will. love you guys. thanks for sticking around and supporting what i create.

so as i'm sure you all know, sonic shorts volume nine is on it's way after ten years of waiting. it may surprise some of you, but i'm actually not that big of a sonic fan. I've only played a handful of games and only interact with the franchise in an ironic/joking way. basically, i don't take it seriously at all. mario's always had the better games in my opinion. but i've always been a fan of sonic shorts ever since i was a little kid. there was one time in particular where me and three other kids on the elemantary school playground (well, not really a playground. it was a blacktop.) were trying to recreate our favorite scenes from the videos. eventually, i tried recreating that one scene where sonic, knuckles, and tails were kicking eggman ("why are you doing this?" "because we're sonic heroes") but i was doing it by myself as the other kids looked at me attempting to do it. i cringe everytime i recall that memory.

but anyway, the point is that i've been a big fan of these shorts, and when i saw they were finally making the ninth installment, i was super excited. i submitted my application, and i just recieved the email about 30 minutes ago letting me and dozens of other animators know that we were respectfully rejected.

i'm not trying to garner sympathy or plead my case as to why i should be in this project. if they make another one, i'll sure as hell try again. they rejected me for this one, and that's that. i just wanted to talk about it for a little bit. even though i'm cool with it, it's still a little depressing.

Hey, kids. I'm feeling a little nostalgic and I wanted to talk a little bit about an old user from way back in 2019. In the great words of Galadriel, "Much that once was is lost, for none now live to remember it".

It began way back in the summer of 2019. I was eagerly waiting for Enter The Florpus to release on Netflix, and I was also getting new carpet put in my bedroom as well as getting it painted, which meant I had to spend about a 3rd and a half of that summer sleeping on a bare mattress in my sunroom next to a pile of laundry. Since I couldn't use my computer in my room anymore, I had to set it up at the dining room table so I could continue working on my animations. At the time, I was working on my first attempt at an animated series titled Tom and Jon, which was more or less a blatant rip off of Invader Zim (though I refused to tell myself that until after I created Popper and Stevie and had been messing with those characters for a handful of months. In fact, one of the earliest blog posts I made here was an announcement for Tom and Jon!) and I was deadset on making it a reality. But because I didn't really know how to do, well, anything regarding making an animated series, I would sprinkle little teasers throughout my animations until I was actually ready to start making the series. One of these animations was a reanimated version of the "kick gum, chew ass" video, which is still up to this very day. On the same day I uploaded that animation, I recieved a message. I think it was actually my first message from another actual user on the site and not just P-Bot begging for up-doots.

That message was from a man named Chad Cooper.

The message was a strange, garbled mess of words with a very loose description of an stick fight animation collab entitled "Darkness Uprising" with purple robots shooting lasers or something to that extent. He also ended just about every message with a winky face emoticon (y'know, the ;) thing) which threw me off just a little bit to what his actual intentions were. Keep in mind I was still new to Newgrounds and didn't quite get the culture yet, and "stranger danger" was a thing on my mind. Anyway, I could at least understand to a degree what he wanted me do to after asking some questions (what I asked, I don't know. All the chatlogs have been deleted since) but what I had in mind was something I deemed a little too difficult for my skills at the time. And while I did get what he was saying a little bit, I didn't really understand the full picture. So I just took what I could, which was robots and fighting, and ran with it. I went on to animate Tom, from the previously stated Tom and Jon series, fighting a group of robots in a bar called "Robot Rage". I submitted it here to the lovely world of Newgrounds and it actually performed pretty well. And Chad seemed to enjoy it just fine.

But then I decided to look a little deeper into this collab. Y'know, see what everypony else was making. Not only have there been at least thirty or fifty other animators working on this collab, but it wasn't even the first collab called Darkness Uprising. And Chad Cooper had like ten alternative accounts, all of them spamming more or less the same comments on nearly every animated video or animation for his collab. It was for lack of better terminology a strange sight to see. At first I thought it was just a weird kid trying to start a collab with some animators on the internet and didn't really know how to do it yet. And what was on display here was pouring gas on the fire. I quickly lost all interest in being associated with the "collab" and pulled my submission from YouTube and Newgrounds, and went on with my life for about a week until I saw Hatena360's video on Chad. I then scrolled down to the comments to see a comment from Chad's brother explaining what was actually going on and apologizing for what had happened. After fully reaching an understanding, I took my leave and went on to keep the memory of Chad Cooper in the back of my mind for years to come.

Then one day, about half a month ago, a little inkling in the back of my head echoed words I hadn't heard in a long time. Words I recognized but didn't fully understand. The words "Greatest collab in history". I searched YouTube for it, and scrolled until I once again found Hatena360's video on the long forgotten legends of Chad Cooper. I watched it, feeling a wave of bitter sweet nostalgia for that one summer back in 2019. I then once again scrolled to the comments, and saw one I never saw before. It was from another brother named Brad talking more in-depth about Chad. Apparently, Chad wasn't a kid at all! He was in fact a fully grown man who unfortunately was diagnosed with autism, but really loved watching Hyuns Dojo stick fight animations ever since their heyday. The comment goes more in depth, but I'm not going to list anything else from it. But it really goes to show you that even when you think a story is done, or you know everything about it, you can still find new things about it years later! And even though this was a very weird first experience with collaborating with another person on a project, I still enjoy looking back on this little memory. And I feel nostalgia for that summer in 2019. Occasionally even some longing to go back to that summer even if it were just for a couple hours.

So thank you, Chad. Keep creating, but try not to do that way again.

UPDATE: It would seem that legends never die afterall. I can't say for certain, but it seems that Chad continues to walk among the forums of the Hyuns Dojo website under the account Lovesng25. Now time will only tell if Ziora's evil army will finally be defeated (whoever the hell that is lmao i dont watch hyuns dojo)

hey, kids. first off, shout out to DioShiba for the... i guess fan art? could've done something a little more creative in my opinion, but i'll never turn down a piece of fan art! even if it's horrible or goes against everything i believe and stand for!

after all, Penguins fan art is pretty rare, and i cherish the small amount i've recieved.iu_1104164_6405905.png

alright, that was the first thing. second thing is this: while i tried my hardest to get it out in time, the halloween special will be arriving late this year (GASP!!) so hopefully you all can forgive me for that. i think it should be done in like mid or late november. but i've been historically late with deadlines so nothing is set in stone at all.

third thing: there's a new Penguins project in the works. yeah, i know, i'm always saying stuff like that and then nothing ever shows, but this time i'm serious. i can't say anything right now (mostly because it's in kind of a pre-development/waiting-for-a-greenlight phase), but i promise it may be the biggest project i've ever done since The Neighbor Next Door, let alone a Penguins related project.

i'll update you all when i have more news. stay fresh, homies.

by the way, you can check out the fan art here.

Hey, kids.

It's been quite a while since I've done one of these news post blog thingies, so I thought I would make a new one after it being so long.

As you all know, the last Penguins animation was released just last year, with pretty much nothing since. There's been a couple animations, of course, and new Penguins comic books is in the works, but no animations. Well, I've come here to make a quick announcement that a new Penguins animation will be coming this Halloween! Or around that time. It's hard to say now. I hope you all enjoy it when it gets released! I won't tell you anything about it right now, but I have one bit of art I can show you for the time being...

While we're on the subject of Penguins, I have some breif announcements for the series:

  1. Penguins: The Neighbor Next Door Part 2 is now cancelled. I no longer enjoy the script, and working on that project has proven to be too ambitious for my current skill level. Along with a whole list of other reasons why I won't move forward with it. Part 1 will still be on the internet, don't worry. I may release a revised version of the script at a later date for those who wanted to see how the story ends.
  2. Three pages of the latest Penguins comic are available to read on my DeviantArt! Check out the links on my page to read them!
  3. I'm working on designs for Penguins merchandise. Nothing too big, just some shirts and maybe some posters.

And if there happens to be anyone out there who's wondering why not very animations have been released this year, well it really comes down to two things:

The first being the elsabeoons situation from all the way back in June. I'll be honest, that really messed me up for a while. It still does. I mean, I get it. The animation he reuploaded was something that was a trendy little thing, and it produced a little bit of views for him. It performed very well for me as well when I put it on my YouTube channel to copyright claim his reupload (thank god it did, too. i made the damn thing after all). After all that, I got scared to upload my animations anywhere. I didn't/don't want anyone to steal anything I make. Especially Penguins. They're like my children to me. But then, he emailed me asking me to remove my claims. To this day, I don't really know how he got my email address. So I deleted my channel on YouTube, and I never looked him up ever again. Truth be told, I don't want to. I'm scared to know what I might find on there or if he stole more of my animations. I shouldn't be, but I am. But all that being said, a lot of time has passed, and I trust that he's forgotten or gotten over everything that's happened, and that me and him can just move on.

The second reason is just that I've had a lot of projects lately. And with school, I don't have a lot of time for animating. It's something I really enjoy and want to be part of my life forever, but I just don't have as much time as I wish I had. If I did, there probably would be a lot more animations this year. But enough of all that.

Alright, I think that's it. I hope you all enjoy the new animation when it comes out! See ya round, kids!

Hey, Hey, Hey. Do you hear that, kiddies? Gasp! It can't be! Better hide grandmas backup pair of denchersĀ and leave out a jar of Xanax on the windowsill because it's time for the September Production Update! I'm going to attempt to make these a monthly thing so at the end of every month, you'll get a new update! So without any delay, lets begin.

Penguins

I think it's fair to say a lot of people are awaiting anything related to Penguins. Well, this should quell your thirst for the fluffy little bastards because Congress has allowed me to show you some screencaps from production! Take a look; iu_400898_6405905.webpiu_400896_6405905.webpiu_400897_6405905.webp

So things are going pretty smoothly. I am currently waiting for voice lines for Episode 2, and I am in the midst of writing the third and final episode of Season Zero. After that, I'm not really sure what I'll do but I am juggling possible ideas like pitching it to a local production studio. But we'll cross that bridge after we burn this one.

Other Shit

I am also working on other projects. Such as comics, and maybe even a NewGrounds exclusive Penguins game! But, that's just ideas for right now. So, on that note, here's some things to possibly expect from this and next year:

2021

The Penguins Spook-Day Spectacular

Penguins: The Night The Reindeer Died

2022

Penguins: The Neighbor Next Door (Episode 1)

Tom & Jon; Internet Breakers

Baking With Popper

Conclusion

I'm not sure if I can make any of these dates or even if some animations will ever deliver, but I will give you all I've got to at least finish them. Thank you all for your support!

Yo Yo Yo! It's me, the random pony on NG back at ya with a Production Update on the pilot for Penguins!

Before I get started, I have a casting call page and we're looking for EXPERIENCED composers, animators and VA's. The deadline is April 1st so if you want to be a part of this project you better send your auditions now!

Link: http://www.castingcall.club/projects/penguins-the-neighbor-next-door

Alright, now to the actual production:

First Off, we have replaced the VA of Gus with a man named Gart (I don't know if that's his real name but it's the one he uses on Discord) so I hope you all like the role he'll play in the series!

Secondly, I am in the process of not only writing the first season but also writing an entire CINEMATIC. UNIVERSE. It includes Interdimensional Travel, Alternate versions of the characters, Clockwork Elves and Lizard People! It's gonna be one mindfuck after another so put on your big boy pants!

And finally, Storyboarding will start this weekend and end hopefully before April 1st.

That's all I can say right now so stay tuned!
